Bed Bug Heat Treatment — Hilton Head

A couple called us in to do a bed bug Heat Remediation treatment. They had already had their home heat treated by another company and though it had knocked out most of the bed bugs they still found live bed bugs after treatment. The original company did not offer any guarantee so they opted for using a different company. We inspected and our K-9 team found live bed bugs in the wooden kitchen table and also in the paneling which in the bathroom behind the tub.

Heat Treatment for Bed Bugs — Superior Equipment

The home was an older modular aka mobile home and had some areas that were not well insulated. We believed that bed bugs were in the paneling behind the tub because tubs can act as insulators against the heat. As for the kitchen table—we learned that an elderly parent had been staying in this area on a medical bed prior to passing away. This would explain why bed bugs were in the wooden kitchen table. We used Heat remediation and held temperatures for longer than normal to account for poor insulation, being sure to use our thermal imager to pinpoint cooler areas and then redirecting heat to those areas.

K9 Bed Bug Detection

Our K-9 team returned 30 days later to inspect and home was clear. On a side note, we did tell homeowners that it would be a good idea to let the hospital equipment rental company know to inspect the medical bed so that other patients would not get bed bugs. While these companies do clean and sanitize their equipment it would be common courtesy to let them know to use extra precautions with this bed.
